Here are examples of various strips I found on internet
Idea development
Drawing other characters as an exercise proved to be very helpful. I became more aware of facial expressions related to emotions so I felt more confident to draw my own. By drawing other characters I noticed some things that I wouldn’t if I had only observed drawing so I think it was generally highly beneficial. I started from a boy and after trying various combinations of eyes, nose, mouth I got my character. He was also a base for a female character which was altered by adding it some female characteristics like eyelashes, smaller lips, earrings, long hair. I started with pencil sketches then I progressed working with ink that I later scanned. Next I was playing with brushes, patterns, textures in Photoshop.
After finishing my characters I began to write an educational text. I thought I would write only few sentences but I had a fun with writing text so I didn’t want to limit myself. I made strip using InDesign since it is much easier in terms of text manipulation.
This is a final version of my educational strip. It is more like a little book if I look the text.
