Below are examples I collected during my research and I categorized them according to appropriate age group. From the images I shown I could make some general conclusions regarding illustrations for children. When it comes to small children, pre-readers I could say that accent is in vivid colors and simple shapes without much details. Usually there is no text or just a little as a single words. Books for pre-school readers (3-5) have some text, fonts are large and illustrations are vivid but shapes are not that simple like with previous group and have more details. Going toward older age group there is obvious change in details when it comes to imagery and illustrations become more realistic with more details. There are more text, fonts are smaller and there is a change in quality of literal form.
