Quick drawings and sketches

Since illustration requires among others good drawing and painting skills I was aware that I need to practice my hand with everyday drawing. It doesn’t have to be drawing that lasts for hours and it doesn’t have to be something too complicated for the start, so I set myself a goal to make small drawings whenever I have a time during the day. This referes to quick drawing and sketches that are only practise for a hand and eyes. This should help me gain more confidence for some later more complicated work.

I learned from the C.W. Garcia’s book “Absolute and Utter Beginner” that practicing contour drawing is always recomanded as it trains hand to make nice continuous and confident-looking moves. I chose various objects mostly tools  from household. At this stage I didn’t think about proportions; I was just drawing lines without thinking about object itself. I was trying use bold continious lines in order to depict object that would be end up little distorted but the point was to learn to draw nice long firm lines when working with pen. As you can see I also played alittle bit by adding lines, trying to make shadows, expreimenting with nib pen. I also used pencil for some quick drawing and later started with watercolor in order to feel reaction between paper and paint.

The more I draw the better is my coordination between hand and eyes, so I think it is very important to grab the pencil everyday and at least to scribble for a five minutes. I also find handwriting helpful so I am trying to write as much as I can instead of using computer keyboard.
